Contact Media Services: (240) 276-2130 Date: 8/27/2008 SAMHSA Accepting Applications for Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant ProgramThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting applications for cooperative agreements to implement SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework. The Strategic Prevention Framework uses a public health approach built on a community-based risk and protective framework for prevention. The objective of the program is to:
It is expected that about $38.1 million will be available to fund approximately 20 awards in Fiscal Year (FY) 2009. Annual awards are expected to be $2.3 million or less per year. Applicants may request a project period of up to 5 years. The actual award amount may vary, depending on the availability of funds. The grants will be awarded by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are the immediate Office of the Chief Executive (e.g., Governor) in the States, U.S. Territories or District of Columbia; and federally recognized Tribes. Only those applicants that have not previously received a SPF SIG are eligible.
