MISSION

The mission of the field office is to be the combat support agency's forward representative to the Combatant Commander responsible for providing direct support for net-centric solutions across the Global Information Grid in United States Strategic Command's (USSTRATCOM) operational mission areas of responsibility. STRATCOM mission areas include full-spectrum global strike, space operations, computer network operations, DoD information operations, strategic warning, integrated missile defense, combating weapons of mass destruction, and global command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to meet both deterrent and decisive national security objectives.

FUNCTIONS

  • Focal point for USSTRATCOM/Component customer service.
  • Provides the warfighters in theater with seamless, end-to-end, integrated information services that are flexible, interoperable, reliable, affordable and sustainable.
  • Liaison to USSTRATCOM for Joint Task Force – Global Network Operations (JTF-GNO)
  • Plans, schedules, monitors and manages support to contingency and components, (JTFs, SOFs).
  • Supports the implementation of GIG in the theater of responsibility as authorized by the Director DISA and in accordance with DISA Headquarters policy and procedures.
  • Develops, exercises, and updates OPLANs to ensure DISA support in response to crises and major exercises.
  • Coordinates USSTRATCOM initiatives, requirements within DISA/JTF-GNO and coordinates DISA/JTF-GNO initiatives/requirements to the USSTRATCOM and with others in the AOR, as appropriate.
  • Provides theater management of DoD networks, standards, and security.
  • Provides USSTRATCOM with information technology planning and technical support.
  • Performs network management and control functions on the GIG in the AOR. Maintains close coordination with other DISA Field Commanders supporting those systems and circuits which traverse between AORs.
DISA Strategic Command (STRATCOM) Field Office is responsible for the following specific function:

  • Provides support to the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) its components, 55th Wing and the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA).

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Commander of DISA STRATCOM reports directly to and receives operational direction from the Principal Director for GIG Operations.
