What's New on the Web Site

What's new in July 2008

  • The TSP is now displaying share prices to four decimal places. The change from two to four decimal places will allow for greater precision in calculating account balances and in tracking the TSP funds to the indexes with which they are associated.  For more information, see the Questions and Answers about this topic.

  • Logging into your TSP account has just gotten easier.  You can now create your own Custom User ID to use in place of your 13-digit TSP account number to access your account on the Web site.  To do this, log into Account Access using your account number and Web password, then choose “Create/Modify Custom ID” from the Account Access menu.  Your custom ID, together with your Web password, can be used only on the Web site.  (You will still need your TSP account number (and PIN) to access your account on the ThriftLine.)  Your custom ID is interchangeable with your TSP account number on the Web site—you can use your custom ID or your 13-digit TSP account number any time you log in to access your account.

  • Beginning July 1, the TSP will display share prices to four decimal places.  This change from two to four decimal places will allow for greater precision in calculating account values and in tracking the TSP funds to the indexes with which they are associated.

What was new in May 2008

  • The TSP conducted a web-based survey as part of its web redesign effort.  We have concluded the survey and removed it from this web site.  Thanks to all who participated in the survey.

  • Find out about the new rule governing interfund transfers in the updated Features section of this Web site and the updated booklet Managing Your Account.  You can also find more information in the Questions and Answers on this topic.

What was new in April 2008

  • To make logging into your account easier, the TSP has added a feature which allows participants to see the actual account number they enter (rather than asterisks or bullets) when they access their TSP accounts on the Web.  If you unmask your account number, remember to protect it so that others will not see it.

  • The Agency published a final regulation that takes effect Thursday, May 1, 2008.  The regulation will limit the number of unrestricted interfund transfer requests to two per month.  After a participant has made two interfund transfers in a calendar month, the participant may make additional interfund transfers only into the G Fund until the next calendar month. For more information about this change, see the Questions and Answers on this topic.

  • April is Financial Literacy Month! If you aren’t sure how the TSP works, what benefits it has to offer you (such as matching contributions, if you are FERS), or what investment options are available to you, check out the TSP Web site.  The Features section, available from the Home page, provides an overview of the TSP.  You can also use the interactive calculators on this site for estimating and planning your retirement savings and TSP contributions, modeling a loan, or estimating annuity or monthly payments.

If you want to learn more about a specific topic, use the “Search” function available at the top of the Home page or from the TSP site map.
