Is there a toll-free number that people outside the U.S. can call?
  Question
Is there a toll-free number that people outside the United States can call to contact Social Security?
  Answer

We do not have a toll-free number that is accessible from outside the U.S.

For information on how to obtain Social Security services when you are outside the United States, see Service Around the World.

In countries where there is a relatively large number of Social Security customers, American embassies and consulates (and VARO in Manila) have personnel who have been specially trained to provide a full range of services, including the taking of applications for benefits.

For customers in the United States, the toll free number is 1-800-772-1213.
