FOIA Fees
Under the FOIA, fees are charged for processing requests based on the category of the requester. Commercial requesters pay search, review and reproduction costs over $25. News media and educational or noncommercial scientific institutions pay reproduction costs after the first 100 pages. Other noncommercial requesters get the first two hours of search time and the first 100 pages free of charge.

Fees may be assessed even though no records are located.

The NRO charges FOIA fees according to the DoD schedule. Requesters must express a willingness to pay fees. Waivers will be considered in certain cases. For further information, see How to Make a FOIA Request.
