A Farewell and Tribute to Francis S. Collins 
On July 25, 2008, NHGRI bid a fond farewell to Director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D. at Natcher Auditorium on the National Institutes of Health campus. Dr. Collins stepped down on August 1, 2008 to explore writing projects and other professional opportunities.

GenBank Celebrates 25 years of Service [tech-res.com]
In celebration of GenBank and its contribution to science over the last 25 years, the National Center for Biotechnology Information, National Library of Medicine, NIH, held a two-day conference abour GenBank on April 7-8, 2008 at the Natcher Conference Center on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Md. The conference brought together a slate of world-renowned scientists in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics and other areas, including Francis Collins, M.D., Ph.D., director of NIH's National Human Genome Research Institute.
