National Conservation Training Center
About Our Campus

Walk our 5 miles of Red Bud Flowerpaved footpaths throughout campus --an outstanding environment for bird-watching, jogging, and nature photography. Our rugged hiking trails take you through eastern hardwood forests and Potomac River meadows.

You'll be actively engaged in training from the moment you arrive at NCTC...with some of the most interesting folks around! The student next to you might be a park ranger from Montana...a fisheries biologist from Maine...or a timber plantation manager from Mississippi. At NCTC, we learn with--and from--each other!

Lots of things happen at the National Conservation Training Center! When you visit NCTC, you’ll have the chance to attend an evening lecture by a noted conservationist ... attend special conservation-themed workshops and national events ... and even design and host your own program, using our top-notch facilities and trademark hospitality. Our "Conservation and Community Lectures" series takes the mission and activities of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other conservation agencies to the local Shepherdstown community, with a high-power monthly line-up of internationally renowned conservation leaders.

Take a peek ahead of time at what’s in store for you at NCTC during your next visit with us by visiting our Community Lectures page.
