Postdoctoral Fellowships in Cancer Genetics and Molecular Biology

Department of Health and Human Services
National Institutes of Health
National Human Genome Research Institute
Cancer Genetics Branch, Molecular Cancer Genetics Section

Fully funded postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the Cancer Genetics Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute to work on the recently discovered oncogene, PI3Kα, which is one of the most mutated oncogenes in human cancer (See papers by Samuels Y in: Science, 2004; Nature, 2005 and Cancer Cell, 2005). Candidates will also work on the identification of genes that are mutated in melanoma and the elucidation of the cellular pathways that these alterations perturb. These projects will involve sophisticated technologies such as high-throughput sequencing, whole genome genotyping, somatic cell knockouts and expression and proteomic analyses.

Successful candidates can expect to work in a supportive and dynamic environment with excellent training opportunities at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Md., just north of Washington DC. Training will include interaction with other laboratories and core facilities, including DNA microarray analysis, genomic analysis and cell sorting. The salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with experience. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or M.D. awarded within the past five years.

Candidates who wish to join the group may apply by sending, by mail or e-mail, a cover letter, CV, including list of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and the names/phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference to:
