JONATHAN SOLOMON
RETURNS AS SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE
OF THE FBI'S MIAMI DIVISION
Jonathan I. Solomon has returned to
the position of Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI's Miami,
Florida Division. Mr. Solomon, a 22-year FBI veteran, was serving
as the Executive Assistant Director for the FBI's Administrative
Service Division.
Mr. Solomon was initially appointed
as SAC Miami in March 2004, before being called back to Headquarters
to serve as EAD for Administration in May 2004. Over the past year
and a half, he has led the men and women of the Administrative branch
and made tremendous progress in a number of important areas. To
identify just a few: the FBI achieved unprecedented hiring levels
and met ambitious hiring goals for Intelligence Analysts. During
his tenure, the FBI instituted significant reforms to our career
development program, including the establishment of a new Special
Agent career path. In addition, he began transforming the Administrative
Services Division into two more specialized divisions --- one for
Human Resources, the other for Facilities and Logistics Services
--- to enable the FBI to better meet significant challenges in those
critical areas. We also enhanced our personnel security and information
assurance programs, and saw the Bureau through a period of historic
budget increases. Mr. Solomon was instrumental in improving communication
between Headquarters and the field by serving as the principal point
of contact for the FBI Director's Advisory Committees and the FBI
Agents Association, and led the FBI's initial response to the devastation
caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Director Mueller said, "Jon has a record of achievement in
addressing the most pressing administrative issues. I am grateful
for his contributions and the Miami Division will benefit from his
experience and leadership."
Mr. Solomon joined the FBI in September 1983. He served in the Kansas
City, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and Tampa field offices, and has handled
a variety of criminal matters including organized and white collar
crime. He has also worked extensively on administrative matters
including hiring, personnel performance, and inspections. In April
2002, he was appointed Special Assistant to the EAD Administration.
He served as Special Assistant to the FBI Director from January
2003 through February 2004.
