17th Annual Short Course on Experimental Models of Human Cancer
This is a graduate-level genetics course for predoctoral and postdoctoral students as well as established investigators entering the field of mouse genetics. The course focuses on the mouse as an experimental tool in cancer research. Workshops will include: mouse genome informatics; laboratory animal biomethods (optional); and gross pathology, necropsy and tumor histo-pathology. The intensive course offers a mix of formal lectures, discussion groups, demonstrations, workshops and tutorials. The course is held in a retreat-like setting and is limited to 35 participants to ensure a supportive learning atmosphere with exceptional interaction between students and faculty.

This course is run in collaboration with Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics at Harvard Medical School and supported by a grant from The National Cancer Institute. Highseas Conference Center, Bar Harbor, ME, Aug 22-31, 2008.

College Of Neuropsychopharmacology 21st Congress

6th Annual World Congress on the Insulin Resistance Syndrome
Since the introduction by Dr. Gerald Reaven in 1988 of Syndrome X, now the Insulin Resistance Syndrome (frequently referred to as metabolic syndrome & cardio metabolic risks)- multiple definitions of the Syndrome have evolved by many groups such as NCEP, WHO, IDF, AHA and ACE.
