Statement from former RCFL Unit Chief, Gerard J. Cocuzzo

Congratulations to the Silicon Valley and New Jersey RCFLs for earning accreditation from the prestigious American Society of Crime Laboratory Directions/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB). This accreditation is a culmination of many hours of hard work by the staffs of both laboratories, and reflects their deep commitment to the RCFL Program. Our mission is to provide outstanding digital forensics services to law enforcement, and as the premier digital forensics laboratory network in the country, we have set our sites on earning accreditation for all of our laboratories. We are well on our way towards meeting this goal, with the Silicon Valley and New Jersey RCFLs joining the North Texas RCFL which gained accreditation from ASCLD/LAB in 2004.
ASCLD/LAB is a voluntary program where any crime laboratory may participate to demonstrate that its management, operations, personnel, procedures, and safety procedures meet established standards. The accreditation process is part of the RCFL Program’s quality assurance program and is geared towards helping our laboratories provide superior products and services to the criminal justice system.
