Top DOE Nuclear Energy Official in Florida to Highlight DOE’s Role in Nuclear Power Expansion

WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, May 12, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy Dennis R. Spurgeon will deliver keynote remarks at the 16th Annual International Conference on Nuclear Engineering in Orlando, Florida.  Assistant Secretary Spurgeon is expected to discuss the Department’s role in spurring nuclear expansion domestically, the need for the next generation of nuclear engineers and the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) an initiative launched in 2006 aimed at expanding the benefits of nuclear power worldwide.
