SCORM® Version 1.0

Released in January 2000, Sharable Courseware* Object Reference Model (SCORM) Version 1.0 was the inaugural release of specifications and guidelines to meet the DoD's high level requirements of accessibility, interoperability, durability and reusability of Web-based learning content and systems. This new specification entered a test and evaluation phase during which researchers and early adopters were encouraged and expected to develop trial implementations.

SCORM Version 1.0 marked a first in forming standards in instructional software for interoperability and reuse.

SCORM Version 1.0 is comprised of three major elements:

  1. Course Structure Format
  2. Run-Time Environment
  3. Metadata
    • Course Metadata
    • Content Metadata
    • Raw Media Metadata
