SCORM® Version 1.0
Released in January 2000, Sharable Courseware* Object Reference Model (SCORM) Version
1.0 was the inaugural release of specifications and guidelines to meet the DoD's
high level requirements of accessibility, interoperability, durability and reusability
of Web-based learning content and systems. This new specification entered a test
and evaluation phase during which researchers and early adopters were encouraged
and expected to develop trial implementations.
SCORM Version 1.0 marked a first in forming standards in instructional software
for interoperability and reuse.
SCORM Version 1.0 is comprised of three major elements:
- Course Structure Format
- Run-Time Environment
- Metadata
- Course Metadata
- Content Metadata
- Raw Media Metadata

The SCORM Version 1.0 Documentation is a collection and harmonization of specifications
and standards that defines the interrelationship of content objects, data models
and protocols such that objects are sharable across systems that conform to the
same model.
