Excellent career opportunities in the PA Department of Health. The PA Department of Health is currently recruiting for several Nursing Services Consultant positions .

These positions are assigned to the Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Section's Infection Control & Best Practices Unit and are responsible for work associated with health care facility infection control plan review, evaluation and monitoring of health care associated infections (HAI) via the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for the purpose of improving facility care and reducing and/or eliminating health care associated infections. These positions are technical, consultative, analytical, and involves interaction with healthcare facility infection control personnel and other facility staff, including medical staff. These positions will also interact with internal and external customers of data and infection control information and ideas, including health care providers, patients and/or residents, legislators, other Departmental and governmental units and the public in general. These positions will review, analyze and process infection control plans to ensure regulatory compliance and will provide consultative services and information to facilities and others concerning sound infection control practices, eventually assisting to correlate infection control plans and practices with HAI data collected by the Department. Will assist with facility auditing and other measures designed to ensure facility compliance with the requirements of the Act. Will also assist with identification of data reporting and analysis issues and development and dissemination of best practices information related to HAI surveillance and prevention. Additionally, these positions will be cross-trained and serve as back-up to the Section's Reporting and Monitoring Unit as needed.

Eligibility Requirements: Three years of professional nursing experience, including two years in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or quality assurance capacity in professional nursing and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. (A Master's Degree in Nursing or Public Health may be substituted for one year of professional nursing experience.)

An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or quality assurance capacity in professional nursing.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Employees possessing a non-renewable temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
