Epidemiology Program Specialist - PA Department of Health

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking a full time permanent Epidemiology Program Specialist to coordinate Occupational Health and Occupational Disease and Injury activities of the Department's Division of Environmental Health Epidemiology. This position is located in Harrisburg, PA (Dauphin Co) and is a designated emergency response position. Starting Salary: $46,807.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking a full time permanent Epidemiology Program Specialist to coordinate Occupational Health and Occupational Disease and Injury activities of the Department's Division of Environmental Health Epidemiology. This position is located in Harrisburg, PA (Dauphin Co) and is a designated emergency response position.

Starting Salary: $46,807.

Position Description: Conducts and/or coordinates occupational health surveillance activities by the Department and collaborates with staff of other state agencies who are engaged in similar activities. Identifies and implements required action steps which are appropriate for the Department in the area of occupational disease and injury. Explores possibilities of grant support from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as well as other groups related to occupational safety and/or disease efforts, e.g., surveillance. Develops grant applications by the Department to obtain outside funding for new programs and implements indicated contract(s)and grant(s). Oversees the Adult Blood Lead Registry and conducts activities related to it (i.e., outreach/education, worker notification, quarterly reports to the national blood lead registry). Provides expertise in the area of industrial hygiene related to required investigations by the Department of actual and potential occupational health hazards involving schools, Commonwealth institutions, private sector workplaces and other facilities. Collaborates with other colleagues in the Division on Health Assessments and other studies and/or investigations in the area of environmental health. Performs other related duties as needed.

Clarification of Requirements: You may substitute related education for the required experience or appropriate experience for the required education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

Minimum Requirements: Three years of experience in epidemiologic investigations and a bachelor's degree in public health or a closely related field;
OR
one year of field experience in epidemiology and a master's degree in public health or a closely related field with an emphasis in epidemiology, including or supplemented by at least three courses in epidemiology;
OR
an equivalent combination of experience and training.
