The University of Montana School of Public and Community Health Sciences - PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The University of Montana School of Public and Community Health Sciences seeks an experienced professional to work closely with its Chair to coordinate the planning, development, and implementation of the graduate academic programs. The Program Coordinator will assist with the management, administration, and accounting procedures of the new School that is housed in the vibrant College of Health Professions and Biomedical sciences. The coordinator will also hire and manage employees and assist in graduate student advising. The school hosts an online Master’s in Public Health degree program and a Certificate in Public Health program.

The school hosts an online Master’s in Public Health degree program and a Certificate in Public Health program.

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in health, education, psychology, or a related field with three years experience in public health or another related field. Applicants must be able to work independently and to effectively interact with educators, university personnel, students, external agencies, and the public at large. They must have experience in planning and coordinating complex administrative and academic issues. In addition, applicants must have superior oral and written communication skills and public relation skills, accuracy and attention to detail, experience in hiring and supervising employees, ability to multi-task and prioritize, excellent organization skills, experience with organization and facilitating meetings, and be highly efficient and experienced with literature searches. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in public health or a related field; experience in web-based course development, web-design, Banner information system; newsletter development; and some accounting experience.

The University of Montana School of Public and Community Health Science prepares professionals to improve the health of the people of Montana and other rural areas by providing interdisciplinary education that fosters critical thinking, research-based practice, and community collaboration. The School aims to graduate practitioners who are competent to address the unique challenges resulting from the interaction of biological, environmental, historical, political, sociocultural, economic, and behavioral factors and their relationship to public health policy, management, and intervention.
