OSHA AND NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MINORITY CONTRACTORS
TO SIGN PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

Location: Georgia World Congress Center
Phase IV Expansion Project Construction Site
Northside Drive
(Between Simpson St. and the Georgia Dome)

Date: Monday, Oct. 22, 2001

Time: 2:00 p.m.

Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health John Henshaw will attend the official signing of a partnership between OSHA and the National Association of Minority Contractors Monday, Oct. 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center.

The purpose of the partnership is to ensure the safety and health of employees working at the 1.4 million-square-foot Georgia World Congress Center Phase IV expansion project which will create four new exhibit halls, meeting rooms, a ballroom and a landscaped plaza.

The agreement calls for Georgia-wide implementation of safety and health programs addressing the most common construction site hazards: falls, electrical, struck-by and caught-in. OSHA agrees to provide safety requirement training sessions, a particular need for small employers who lack the resources to employ a safety and health staff. The National Association of Minority Contractors is encouraging its Georgia members, all of whom are included in the partnership, to participate.

Media representatives are invited. As a security measure, a formal invitation will be sent which will be required for admittance. Parking at the World Congress Center will be complimentary.

If you have questions, please contact Lorette Post at (404) 562-2078 or Jo Anne Burgoyne at (404) 562-2076.
