MWH Constructors Achieves OSHA Recognition for Excellence on Houston's Northeast Purification Plant Expansion Project

HOUSTON -- MWH Constructors has earned membership in the prestigious "Star" Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A recognition ceremony was held at the company's local facility to honor its excellent work on the Northeast Purification Plant Expansion Project in Houston.

"MWH Constructors' excellence in effective safety and health management has resulted in OSHA's VPP Star award at seven separate locations," said OSHA Regional Administrator John Miles in Dallas. "Their outstanding efforts include maintaining an injury and illness rate 68 percent below the national average for their industry."

MWH Constructors provided all services necessary to complete the design and construction of the water purification facilities at the Northeast Water Purification Plant expansion project including site preparation, civil, mechanical, structural and associated electrical requirements. Headquartered in Broomfield, Colo., MWH Constructors employs about 6,000 workers who design, build, finance and manage many of the world's largest and most technologically advanced projects.

OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs recognize and promote effective workplace safety and health management. About 1,350 work sites representing more than 280 industries throughout the U.S have earned OSHA's highest recognition as participants in the VPP. Typically, participants achieve injury and illness rates more than 50 percent below their industry's average.
