Council Description
The Northampton County Citizen Corps Council* seeks to strengthen individual and community preparedness by harnessing the power of collaboration, volunteerism, and education. Objectives of the Northampton County Citizen Corps Council include: Providing citizens new and existing volunteer opportunities, educational materials and training in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Building and enhancing partnerships between local citizens, government entities, non-profits, community-based organizations and the first responder community. Organizing special projects and community events to promote the Citizen Corps Initiative. Fostering a spirit of mutual support by working with Citizen Corps Councils in neighboring jurisdictions and providing resources during times of need. Promoting all Citizen Corps activities throughout the community. *Council formation and membership recruitment is still in progress. Currently, the Council includes representation from the County's Division of Emergency Management, City of Bethlehem's Health Department, MRC representation, and the American Red Cross.
