Examples are provided below for general acknowledgments, data set citation in a reference listing, and crediting online web images and information.

Acknowledgement:
Is a general statement crediting PO.DAAC for data, assistance, and/or review. This statement is included in a paragraph at the end of an article, before the reference list.

Example acknowledgment for specific data set:
"The AVHRR Oceans Pathfinder SST data were obtained from the Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA. http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov."

Example acknowledgment for PO.DAAC tools
and services:

"The AVHRR Oceans Pathfinder SST data were obtained through the online PO.DAAC Ocean ESIP Tool (POET) at the Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC), NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA. http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/poet."

Reference citation:
The reference notation of: author (or PO.DAAC as producer), product title, publisher (PO.DAAC), and release date of the data set which is being credited.

Example data set reference citation:
Physical Oceanography DAAC. AVHRR Oceans Pathfinder Global Equal-angle Best SST (NOAA/NASA). NASA JPL Physical Oceanography DAAC, Pasadena, CA. 1985.

Example Principal Investigator data set reference citation:

Halpern, D. Monthly Mean Global Surface Ocean Variables (Halpern et al.). NASA JPL Physical Oceanography DAAC, Pasadena, CA. (2001)

PO.DAAC Web Citation:

A suggested format is as follows:
"Information [and images] on [SUBJECT] obtained from site http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov maintained by the NASA JPL Physical Oceanography DAAC, Pasadena, CA. (Year).  Source of image data"

Example Website Citation:
"Multi channel sea surface temperature image obtained from http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/DATA_PRODUCT/SST, maintained by NASA JPL Physical Oceanography DAAC, Pasadena, CA. (2003). Data for the image were provided by the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO)."
