External link American Cancer Society RFA: The Role of Healthcare and Insurance in Improving Outcomes Exit Disclaimer
The American Cancer Society is announcing this RFA to investigate the impact of healthcare costs, healthcare system and capacity, insurance status, social factors and delivery of health care services, on outcomes in cancer prevention, early detection and treatment. The purpose of this RFA is to stimulate research on the effects of the US healthcare system structure and the role of insurance on access to screenings and treatment.
Application deadline (electronic and paper): October 15th, 2008.
Psychiatry Research Fellowships, American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE)
The annual application deadline for research fellows is December 1 and for summer medical students is April 1.

The Sealy Center on Aging at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas has openings available for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral positions. Pre-doctoral fellows will earn a Ph.D. degree in Sociomedical Sciences or Health Services Research curricula in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health, the Institute for Medical Humanities, or other relevant doctoral programs at UTMB. Funded by a training grant from the National Institute on Aging, these positions are for research focusing on the health of older minorities, with a particular emphasis on older Hispanics.

Applications will be considered until the position is filled.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Research Education Program fosters the development of mental health researchers via creative and innovative research educational programs. Through this funding opportunity, the NIMH encourages educational programs that will attract, train, and advance the career development of physician-scientists committed to research careers relevant to the mission of the NIMH. The NIMH also encourages educational programs that will help prepare researchers for interdisciplinary research careers that are relevant to the mission of the NIMH. These programs may be designed as institutional, regional or national programs.

The application submission dates are: October 1 annually for new applications; November 1 annually for resubmission and renewal applications.
