March 20, 2008 - After a two-week trial, a 12-member jury found Clement Bilski, 45, of Ocean Town Township, New Jersey guilty on 143 counts of sexual abuse to a young girl. The New Jersey RCFL was part of a task force that supported the investigation of the former handyman who faces 1,940 years in prison.

Authorities first became aware of Bilski, a former home contractor, after an agent from the Maryland Sate Police Crimes Against Children Task Force, learned that he was sharing videos on the Internet showing children being sexually abused. The Maryland officer contacted officials with the New Jersey State Police who immediately launched an investigation of Bilski and obtained a search warrant of his home. There they found an extensive video library where Bilski recorded his abuse of children on tape. The New Jersey RCFL examined the video tapes and provided their findings to investigators.

Bilski’s sentencing is scheduled for May 30, 2008. Although he faces life in prison, he cannot receive the death penalty. In December 2007, the state of New Jersey became the first in the nation to abolish the death penalty since the Supreme Court restored it in 1976.
