The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Home Page
On May 13, 2004, President George W. Bush signed Executive Order 13339 to increase economic opportunities for and improve the quality of life of approximately fourteen million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders living in the United States and the U.S.- and Pacific Island jurisdictions. This action renews a previous Executive Order, which established the President's Advisory Commission and a federal Interagency Working Group on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. |

The White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities Home Page
HBCUs are a source of accomplishment and great pride for the African American community as well as the entire nation. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, defines an HBCU as: "...any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation." |

The Commission is charged with strengthening the nation's capacity to provide high quality education while increasing opportunities for Hispanic American participation in federal education programs. |
