On May 29, 2008, the National Indian Gaming Commission received an amendment to the Metlakatla Indian Community Tribal Gaming Ordinance. On June 4, 2008, the Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission issued a decision disapproving the amendment. The Metlakatla Indian Community appealed that decision on July 7, 2008.
