Abstract

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), formerly the American Association of University Affiliated Programs (AAUAP), is a network of interdisciplinary Centers advancing policy and practice for and with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families, and communities. AUCD is a membership organization comprised of University Centers for Excellence funded by the Administration on Developemental Disabilities; Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Programs funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau; the Developmental Disabilities Research Centers funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development; and related centers and entities in universities with similar missions and values. The member centers and programs provide interdisciplinary training (both pre-service and in-service); offer diagnostic and other services to children and adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses; and conduct and disseminate research. AUCD services its members by offering national leadership on major social problems affecting children and adults living with developmental or other disabilities or special health needs.
