Abstract

The P.I.D. performs a number of functions related to information dissemination at the Gallaudet University Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center. The Clearinghouse responds to inquires about a diverse range of topics related to deaf and hard of hearing children in the age group of birth - 21. The Clearinghouse also collaborates with authors form within the Gallaudet community and around the nation to design, produce, and disseminate books, videotapes, periodicals, and other information related to deaf and hard of hearing children, their families, and the professionals who serve them.

Publications

Instructional videotapes such as Reading to Deaf Children, Learning from Deaf Adults; books such as Educating Deaf Children Bilingually and Starting With Assessment (about assessing the literacy skills of deaf students); the Sharing Ideas series of peer-reviewed research monographs; and fact sheets of various kinds. Magazine: "Odyssey" -- features articles about a wide range of issues important to the families of deaf and hard of hearing children and to those involved in deaf education.
