Guiding Eyes for the Blind was created to provide independent mobility to qualified blind persons through the use of highly trained guide dogs. The puppies are placed in the homes of volunteer foster families; when they are 14 to 16 months, they are trained to be guide dogs. The training program for blind persons lasts 26 days and includes food, lodging, and travel. There is no charge for students, the dog, and follow up services for life. A Special Needs Program provides dogs to blind persons who have other disabilities as well. Also has home training programs for previous guide dog users.
