WHO IS THE AUTHOR OF THIS SITE?

The Energy Kid's Page belongs to the Energy Information Administration, a part of the U.S. Department of Energy. "EIA" is the government agency responsible for collecting and analyzing energy statistics and information. Many authors have been involved in writing the Energy Kid's Page and keeping it up-to-date.

You may cite "the Energy Information Administration" as the author of the Energy Kid's Page.

What sources are used by the Energy Kid's Page? Materials on the Kid's Page use a number of different sources which are usually noted at the bottom left-hand side of a particular page.

Graphics and pictures that are reprinted by permission from another organization will have a notation crediting that organization. For example, certain sections have a notation - "Developed by the National Energy Education Development(NEED) Project." The NEED Project supports the development of the Energy Kid's Page, and has granted permission for some of their copyrighted materials to be reprinted on the Kid's Page.

DATE OF PUBLICATION/LAST UPDATE

The Energy Kid's Page was created by the Energy Information Administration(EIA) in 1998. Believe it or not, the site was created as a class project! It was first written and created by a group of employees that were taking a training class to learn all about the energy industry. The class decided to share what they had learned with the world by developing a Kid's Page for the EIA web site.

When were the materials on this site last updated? We try to review and update materials on the Kid's Page about once a year but it is not all updated at once. The date that each section was last updated can usually be found at the bottom left-hand side of a page.

ABOUT ENERGY ANT

Energy Ant was created in May 1975 by the Federal Energy Administration, the Department of Energy's predecessor, to tell kids about energy and how to use it wisely. We thought it would be fun to bring him back as a guide to the Kid's Page and as an ambassador for energy information. A stuffed Energy Ant visits classrooms and energy sites across the country, and you can read about his travels. A human-sized Energy Ant (really an EIA employee in costume) makes guest appearances at school events in the Washington, DC area to talk to students about energy and science. Energy Ant even has his own activity book (for 4th-7th grader students).
