Education

M.S.
University of Delaware, College of Marine Studies, M.S. (Marine Studies), 1996.
B.S.
University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, B.S. (Geology), 1977.

Research Interests

Geochemistry of Coastal Plain ground-water systems affected by agricultural chemicals; transport and transformation of agricultural chemicals from ground-water to surface water and the effects of wetlands on water chemistry; effects of different geologic settings on the geochemistry of ground and surface waters, identification of the chemical characteristics of natural and anthropogenically-affected waters

Professional Experience

-- 1997-present, Project Chief, National Water-Quality Assessment Program (NAWQA), Delmarva Peninsula and Potomac River Basin and Delmarva Peninsula Study Units, and regional synthesis of ground-water quality data in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain, New Jersey through North Carolina

-- 1996-1997, Sub-District Chief, Delaware Office of the Maryland-Delaware-DC District.

-- 1980-1997, Project Chief in the Delaware office working on numerous cooperative and federal projects related to the transport and transformation of anthropogenic chemicals in unconfined Coastal Plain aquifer systems. Work included investigation of the effects of agricultural chemicals and septic-system effluent on ground-water chemistry, the water-quality function of wetlands, transport and transformation of nutrients in aquifer and near-stream environments, the effects of geologic setting on water chemistry and chemical transport, and the transport and transformations of pesticides in ground water.
