When VISTA Alice Fay White, 23, of Opelousas, Louisiana, originally arrived in Little Rock in 1972, there was no assignment for her, so she began to seek funds and support for a senior citizen hot lunch program in Sweet Home, Arkansas. She got her funding through a Community Action Program emergency food and medical program grant, and she became the "coordinator" to keep the program going, working in the kitchen preparing food and delivering the lunches. In this photo, a staff member delivers lunch to an elderly woman in Sweet Home.
