- If you are using either Netscape or Internet Explorer, version 4.0 or higher, telnet should already be configured within your browser. If telnet fails to open when you click on a link that requires a telnet session, ask your systems administrator to check the pathname and filename of your telnet program.
- If you are using Netscape or Internet Explorer, versions 1, 2 or 3, follow the directions below to configure telnet within your browser in order to use several of the library's electronic resources. After you've set up telnet, you'll only have to click on the link to use the resource.
For PCs (Netscape or Internet Explorer versions 1, 2 or 3; or ftp OnNet version 1.1)
- Choose Preferences from the Options pull-down menu.
- Choose Applications and Directories from the Set Preferences On pull-down menu.
- Fill in the Telnet option with the pathname and filename of your telnet program.
Example: C:\PCTCP\WTNVT.EXE or C:\WINDOWS\TN.EXE
- If you don't know which telnet program you have, ask your systems administrator.
For Macintosh (Netscape or Internet Explorer versions 1, 2 or 3)
- Choose Preferences from the Options pull-down menu.
- Choose Applications and Directories from the Set Preferences On pull-down menu.
- Fill in the Telnet option with the pathname and filename of your telnet program.
