Health and Safety in Child Care:
Why is it Important?

A majority of young children are enrolled in out-of-home child care programs. High-quality early education and child care for young children improves their health and promotes their development and learning.

Partnerships among families, child care providers, and health professionals can ensure that all young children have access to quality child care within a nurturing environment and have a medical home. By working as a team, community partners can maximize resources, develop comprehensive services, and most important - nurture children so they enter school healthy and ready to learn.
