Continuing Medical Education (CME) Opportunities

Until recently, most practicing healthcare providers had limited genetics and genomics education and training in their undergraduate and graduate educational programs and clinical training. Practicing healthcare providers will increasingly need to use genetic and genomic knowledge and information to meet the needs of their patients and families. Genetics and genomics CME programs are being created to meet this need. This section provides a listing of genetics and genomics CME opportunities for physicians and other healthcare providers.

• Summer Genetics Institute (SGI) [ninr.nih.gov]
  The National Institute of Nursing Research offers an intensive two-month summer training program for nurses that provides a foundation in molecular genetics for use in research and clinical practice. The institute is designed for nursing faculty, graduate students, and advanced practice nurses.
