Golden Meadows Plant Materials CenterEstablished 1989

Louisiana is losing about 25 square miles of coastal wetlands to erosion every year. The Golden Meadow Plant Materials Center in Galliano, Louisiana develops plants and procedures to reverse this loss of coastal wetlands in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. The Center has released several improved conservation plants including 'Pelican’ black mangrove, ‘Vermillion’ smooth cordgrass and Caminada Germplasm seaoats, and has published planting guides on establishing these coastal plants.
