Manager's Message

Welcome to the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
Idaho Operations Office home page (DOE-ID)

Welcome to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Idaho Operations Office home page. We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our Internet site and encourage you to explore the information provided. You may also contact us directly if you have further information needs or interests that are not covered in this web site.

Under the purview of the DOE, Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID), the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is home to the largest concentration of technical professionals in the Rocky Mountain region. The move to NE supports the nation’s expanding nuclear energy initiatives, placing the INL at the center of work to develop advanced Generation IV nuclear energy systems; nuclear energy/hydrogen co-production technology; advanced nuclear energy fuel cycle technologies and providing national security answers to national infrastructure needs.

Today, the INL and DOE-ID support many DOE program offices and federal agencies. The Site hosts the National Nuclear Security Agency’s Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the United States Geological Survey maintains an active presence. It is also a National Environmental Research Park, one of only seven in the nation.

As we tackle the energy problem by advancing nuclear energy technology, through safe working practices and with great respect for the environment, we will continue to listen to the public’s concerns. It is my desire, as in the past, to develop personal relationships with our stakeholders, regulators and area-Tribal Nations. I plan to meet personally with those entities throughout the region over the next year.

We appreciate your interest and welcome your questions and comments concerning our web site and/or the programs at our laboratory.
