DEFENSE SYSTEMS AND ASSESSMENTS

The strategic objective of Sandia's Defense Systems and Assessments unit is to strengthen U.S. national security by anticipating and delivering high-impact solutions to challenging problems facing the Department of Defense (DoD). We accomplish this by helping our nation maintain weapon systems superiority, critical in fighting terrorism and equipping our armed forces for future conflicts.

Many DoD program offices request Sandia's support to develop advanced technologies and systems that transform the military into a more effective, agile force while enhancing personnel survivability. Sandia strengths in the following areas play a strategic role in this transformation:

While advanced technologies are being developed and used increasingly today by unfriendly and rogue nations and by transnational terrorist organizations, even more advanced technologies will be needed to detect, locate, characterize, defend against, and, if necessary, destroy such threats. Sandia stays hard at work developing and helping field these technologies to ensure continuing U.S. national security.

We work for and partner not only with DoD program offices, but also with other Federal Agencies, and highly qualified industrial and university partners to accomplish our missions. Serious inquiries from prospective partners are welcome by contacting Ann N. Campbell (Group Manager for Program Development, ancampbe@sandia.gov) or the appropriate contact from our Technology Access page.
