The Chemical Reactivity Worksheet
The Chemical Reactivity Worksheet is a free program you can use to find out about the reactivity of substances or mixtures of substances (reactivity is the tendency of substances to undergo chemical change).
It includes
- a database of reactivity information for more than 6,000 common hazardous chemicals;
- a way for you to virtually "mix" chemicals--like the chemicals in the derailed tank cars above--to find out what dangers could arise from accidental mixing.
The database includes information about the intrinsic hazards of each chemical and about whether a chemical reacts with air, water, or other materials. It also includes case histories on specific chemical incidents, with references.
The latest version of the Worksheet is version 1.9.2, released on January 7, 2008. The Worksheet was updated to match the data in the latest version of CAMEOfm.
Note: This version of the Worksheet is not compatible with the latest Macintosh operating system (OS X 10.4 Tiger). Mac (and Windows) users are encouraged to use a Web version of this worksheet, available as part of CAMEO Chemicals, a new online tool for emergency responders and planners. To learn more about CAMEO Chemicals, see the link below. Please let us know if this Web site is not meeting your needs.
The Worksheet was developed by the Chemical Reactivity Team at the Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R), National Ocean Service, NOAA.
