NCUA DRAFT PLAN TO ASSIST PERSONS
WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

This section provides Executive Order 13166, Providing Access to Persons with Limited English Proficiency, signed by the President on August  11, 2000, and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) draft plan for implementing Executive Order 13166 within NCUA.  The draft plan is posted on the NCUA website for public comment, as requested by the White House, until February 28, 2001.  Interested organizations and individuals should submit their comments in writing by February 28, by e-mail or regular mail.  Please address comments to:

August 11, 2000 Executive Order 13166, Providing Access to Persons with Limited English Proficiency:  Executive Order (E.O.) 13166 requires federal agencies to develop plans to ensure that the agency takes reasonable steps to comply with the intent of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by providing meaningful access to its programs and activities for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). December 8, 2000 Draft NCUA Plan to Assist Persons with Limited English Proficiency:  This draft describes the steps NCUA plans to take to assist individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) to communicate their questions and understand NCUA programs and services related to their needs.  The plan will cover NCUA interactions with credit union volunteers, staff, and members; potential members of credit unions; organizations interested in chartering credit unions; as well as members of the general public.  In these situations, NCUA will take reasonable steps to ensure LEP persons receive the language assistance necessary to provide them with meaningful access to NCUA programs and activities, in accordance with the requirements of E.O. 13166. PDF  PDF Version
