A component of NASA Goddard's Sciences and Exploration Directorate, the Visual and Technical Arts Laboratory ( ViTAL ) is a multi-faceted facility capable of creating a full spectrum of multimedia products. ViTAL has the equipment and skills to tackle almost any visualization project.

Proposal Graphics & Artwork
ViTAL develops diagrams and illustrations for science and mission proposals. We work closely with members of proposal teams to ensure that these graphics correctly convey the concepts involved. Staff can take several existing graphics and/or ideas and create the 2 page foldouts that illustrate mission concept or design.

Science Illustrations
ViTAL can take your line drawings or IDL plots and improve the overall quality to publication or proposal standard. We can transform your simple or complex ideas into concise and informative visuals using line, color, tones and patterns. Our experienced staff pays exacting attention to correct and factual scientific detail, and can represent your data with clarity and precision.

Posters & Exhibits
ViTAL operates 2 large format printers. PowerPoint, Photoshop, or Illustrator files can be turned into posters for presentations or exhibits. We also operate a variety smaller printers and flatbed scanners. ViTAL can produce backwall and tabletop exhibits to accommodate the presentation of original scientific research and enhance attendees' knowledge of ground-breaking science.

Photography
Hosting a Conference or a Seminar you wish to document? ViTAL staff can photograph candid and posed shots of large groups as well as individual portraits for passports and science nuggets. Our digital video services include filming as well as video/audio editing of footage. We can add titles and special effects and provide digital footage for use in presentations and Web sites.

Mission Graphic Design
ViTAL staff can develop and create anything that can be visualized. We can aid in the creation of a logo or visual identity for your mission, letterhead, or webpage. We can also produce the necessary accompanying brochures, booklets, and posters. Final designs convey appropriate branding information that positively represent your vision.

3D Visualizations and Still-Image Animations
ViTAL Staff uses the latest technology to produce state of the art visuals in two and three dimensions. We create animations of just about every scientific event or action. Finished products can be saved in a variety of formats on various media. Frames from animated and 3D images can be printed for publication.
