Price Increasing for GAO Paper Publications

  • When? Starting October 1, 2008, GAO will charge for all copies of printed publications.
  • Why? All GAO publications are available free of charge on the internet, printing costs are increasing, and printing demand is decreasing. GAO is changing prices to cover our costs for printing, shipping and handling.
  • How Much? The price for each publication depends on the number of pages and the number of pages in color. The price reflects our actual cost of production and distribution and includes shipping and handling.
  • See Sample Pricing.
  • How Will I Order? You will place your order by phone. You can pay on the phone with a credit card or send a check through the mail.
  • How Long Will It Take? You will get your order 10-14 days after we receive your order and payment.
  • Can I Order the Yellow Book or the Red Book from GAO? No. To get printed copies of the Government Auditing Standards (The Yellow Book) and the Principles of Federal Appropriations Law (The Red Book), you still must go to the U.S. Government Bookstore.
