OCC 2003-30 OCC Bulletin Subject: Review of Regulations Description: Notice of Regulatory Review Date: June 30, 2003 TO: Chief Executive Officers and Compliance Officers of All National Banks and Federal Branches and Agencies, Department and Division Heads, and All Examining Personnel This bulletin transmits a notice of regulatory review published by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of Thrift Supervision on June 16, 2003. The notice is the first step taken by the agencies pursuant to section 2222 of the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act of 1996 (EGRPRA) to reduce regulatory burden. EGRPRA requires the agencies to categorize their regulations by type, publish the categories for comment between now and 2006, report to Congress on any significant issues raised by the comments, and eliminate unnecessary regulations. The agencies are requesting comment on the following three categories of regulations: Applications and Reporting, Powers and Activities, and International Operations. The regulations within those categories are listed in Chart A of the attached Federal Register notice (foreign banks should also consult Chart B). Other categories of regulations will follow in future notices. Comments on these categories may be submitted to the OCC on or before September 15. Because paper mail in the Washington area may be subject to delay, interested persons are encouraged to e-mail or fax comments to: Internet address: regs.comments@occ.treas.gov Fax number: (202) 874-4448 Questions about the proposed notice may be directed to Lee Walzer, counsel, Legislative and Regulatory Activities Division at (202) 874-5090. ___________________________________ Julie L.
