The U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) has named Dorothy Isherwood as its
Director of Programs.
An independent Federal agency headquartered in Chicago, the RRB administers
the $8.5 billion-a-year benefit programs provided under the Federal Railroad
Retirement and Unemployment Insurance Acts covering the nation's railroad
workforce and their families.
As Director of Programs, Ms. Isherwood is responsible for control and
coordination of program operations which carry out provisions of the Acts.
Reporting to Ms. Isherwood are the agency's Directors of Operations, Assessment
and Training, Policy and Systems, Resource Management Center, and Field Service.
She also continues to serve as a member of the RRB's Executive Committee, which
is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency and for making
recommendations to the three-member Board on agency-related policy issues.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Isherwood had been serving as Director of
Administration. Before that she had served as an Assistant to the Chief
Information Officer, as Chief of Program Analysis, and as an Executive Assistant
to the Chief Executive Officer.
Ms. Isherwood is a graduate of the University of Illinois (B.A. 1973) and
Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management (M.B.A. 1988). She and
her husband, William, reside in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
