An independent Federal agency headquartered in Chicago, the RRB administers the $8.5 billion-a-year benefit programs provided under the Federal Railroad Retirement and Unemployment Insurance Acts covering the nation's railroad workforce and their families.

As CIO, Mr. Zoll will head the RRB's Bureau of Information Services and will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the agency's information resources management program. In addition, he will continue to serve as the RRB's Chief Enterprise Architect, with responsibilities for establishing standards, policies and frameworks to guide the agency's use of information technology as well as developing infrastructure programs and Internet/Intranet strategies.

Mr. Zoll will also serve as a member of the RRB's Executive Committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency and for making recommendations to the three-member Board on agency-related policy issues.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Zoll had been serving as Acting CIO. He previously served as Acting Director of Administration, and as Chief of Systems and Technology Development in the RRB's Office of Programs - Policy and Systems. In that capacity he was responsible for the development of new mainframe and personal computer programs, Internet/Intranet development, and the agency's document imaging and workflow system. His efforts in developing and implementing innovative automation initiatives helped earn the RRB three of its five Hammer Awards from the National Partnership for Reinventing Government.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Zoll is a graduate of Loyola University (B.S. 1969, M.B.A 1975).
