Q. |
Why is RRBLINK being shut down? |
|
|
A. |
To collect payments as efficiently as
possible, RRBLINK is being replaced
with two proven federal electronic payment services.
By December 31, 2007, RRBLINK users should be using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System for
their federal tax payments. EFTPS is a free service from the U.S. Department of
the Treasury.
By March 14, 2008, those railroad companies/employers making
Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act contributions and Form DC-1 and lien
payments should move to www.Pay.gov, the federal government’s free Internet payments
portal. |

Q. |
How do I
enroll in EFTPS? |
|
|
A. |
All RRBLINK users that were not already enrolled in EFTPS have been
Express Enrolled. You will need your business’s Employer Identification Number,
bank account information, and the special Personal Identification Number (PIN)
you received from EFTPS to call 800-555-3453 and activate your enrollment before
using EFTPS. For additional information, please visit
www.eftps.gov. |

Q. |
What about
my RUIA and Form DC-1 and lien payments? |
|
|
A. |
By March 14, 2008, those transactions will move to Pay.gov, the federal
government’s free Internet payments portal. You will receive information in the
mail from Pay.gov this winter about this change. In the meantime, continue to
make these payments at RRBLINK. For more information about the conversion to
Pay.gov, please go to the
RRBLINK
FAQ page. The page will be updated as more
information becomes available. |
