CAMEO Chemicals Web Portal

CAMEO Chemicals is an easy-to-use, online tool for emergency responders and planners. The free Web site can be used to:

  • Search An Extensive Chemical Database: Find chemicals of interest in the chemical database, which contains response recommendations for over 6,000 chemicals. The database also contains over 100,000 chemical synonyms and identification numbers, which aid emergency responders in identifying unknown substances during an incident.  (CAMEO Chemicals uses the same chemical database as CAMEO.)
  • View Critical Response Information: Data sheets on each chemical provide physical properties, health hazards, information about air and water hazards, and recommendations for firefighting, first aid, and spill response.
  • Predict Chemical Reactivity: This tool estimates what hazards could arise if chemicals were to mix.

CAMEO Chemicals is the newest product in the CAMEO software suite, and it has much of the same information as the original CAMEO--but the interface has a new look and feel. CAMEO Chemicals was developed by NOAA in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Coast Guard. The CAMEO Chemicals Web site is maintained by NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration.
