Whale Motion in Water

Question -   How does one describe the motion of whales as they move
through water?  Do they move similar to fish moving side to side?

Click on the evolution library link.  Select videos.  Look for the videos
that show the evolution of whales.  One piece of evidence that whales
evolved from land mammals is by the way they move when they swim.  Their
tail fins are vertical.  Fish swim from side to side, whales' spines move up
and down-their tail fins are horizontal.

Actually, they move directly the opposite of fish! Whales move their flukes
(tails) up and down, propelling them forward.
