Fryzel Welcomes NAFCU CEO to NCUAAugust 28, 2008, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Michael E. Fryzel welcomed National Association of Federal Credit Union (NAFCU) President Fred R. Becker Jr. for their initial meeting today at NCUA headquarters. “NAFCU is recognized as an indispensible advocate for the federal credit union system, and I welcome the occasion to discuss the relevant issues for credit unions in today’s complex financial environment with Mr. Becker,” said Chairman Fryzel. “The credit union voice in Washington is heard more clearly because of NAFCU’s dedication and prominence. This early opportunity to hear from leaders within the credit union community is invaluable.”
The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of nearly 87 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
