The objective of the Aerosol and Clouds Group is to study the distribution and effects of aerosols by applying advanced measurement techniques in the laboratory and in-situ field missions. The relevance of these measurements is explored using computer modeling and comparisons with satellite observations. We are at the forefront of developing the new technique of cavity ring-down spectroscopy to measure aerosol optical properties. Our instrumentation has participated in several field missions, including most recently, the DOE Intensive Operating Period and Extended-wavelength MODIS Validation Experiment.
This project requires an experimental background, facility with data analysis techniques, and involves travel in support of field missions.
