Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act Regional
Planning Team (RPT) Basin Subcommittee Meetings for the 16th Priority
Project List
THERE ARE NUMEROUS CHANGES TO THE PROCESS, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

The CWPPRA Regional Planning Teams (RPT) will meet to develop projects for
inclusion into the upcoming 16th Priority Project List (PPL16). At these
meetings coastal restoration projects for each coastal region may be
proposed (see reverse for a map). These proposals will be considered as
possible nominees for the PPL 16 project evaluation process. Nominations
for demonstration projects will also be accepted at the four RPT meetings,
thus shortening the deadline for submission of demos. The RPTs will not
vote at their individual regional meetings; rather voting will be
conducted during a separate coast-wide meeting to be held on February 1,
2006. At the initial RPT meetings, parishes will be asked to identify
their official parish representative who will vote at the coast-wide
meeting. Parishes will be allowed to vote for demo projects and for
nominees in basins that fall within their parish boundaries. At the
coast-wide voting meeting two projects per basin will be chosen as
nominees (three from Barataria and Terrebonne because of their high loss
rates) and 6 demonstration projects will be selected. The final PPL16
Selection Process can be found on the web at
http://www.lacoast.gov/reports/multiproject/PPL/index.htm or
http://www.mvn.usace.army.mil/pd/cwppra_mission.htm

All meetings will be co-chaired by the RPT leader and either a member of
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or LA Department of Natural Resources to
ensure consistency with procedures coast-wide. These meetings will have a
formal agenda and written procedures. A lead agency will be assigned to
each nominated project in order to develop fact sheets following the
coast-wide voting meeting. Schedules for the meetings are given below.
Opportunity for public input and comments will be at the January 10-12,
2006 RPT meetings. The February 1, 2006 meeting will be limited to voting
only (no new projects will be nominated) and there will be no time set
aside for public comments.
