Is there a chance of a meteor hitting the Earth? When?

Apparently there are meteors hitting the Earth all of the time. The
question is whether a large one will hit. That is very rare. The second
question is how large does one have to be so it will not burn up in the
atmosphere and reach the ground. Again that seems to be relatively rare,
but people are often finding bits that look like meteorites. Look up some
more in any recent encyclopedia.
